CRECo.ai Roundtable: Technology, Marketing, Brokerage, Government Policy, Capital, Construction & Cyber Security in Real Estate with Andreas Senie
Get in the Room: AI, Authenticity, and the $1.26 Trillion Reckoning in CRE with CRE Collaborative Roundtable
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
This month, the CRECo AI Roundtable looks at a commercial real estate market that is starting to pick up again. Conference calendars are full, development pipelines are active, and requests for capital-raising materials are rising. Host Andreas Senie (CRE Collaborative and EAC Properties) is joined by Rebekah Carlson (Carlson Integrated) and Chris Abel (Associated Builders and Contractors of Connecticut). They discuss how AI is changing construction, marketing and brokerage. AI is raising the professional standard, and it also needs clear ethical rules. The panel closes on a point they all agree on: technology adds reach, but in-person relationships and authenticity still drive success.
Roundtable now ranked 9of91 Best Commercial Real Estate Podcasts by Feedspot https://podcast.feedspot.com/us_commercial_real_estate_podcasts/
Episode Highlights
Signs of a Market Rebound
- Carlson Integrated is seeing a surge of last-minute requests for marketing materials for ground-up development and retail shopping centers. These projects have been scarce in recent years.
- Demand for pitch decks and investment memoranda is rising. Owners, investors and developers are actively looking to raise capital.
- Construction is uneven and leans heavily toward data centers. Pressure to deliver fast has created a "build now, argue later" approach to disputes.
- The labor shortage is still construction's biggest constraint. Connecticut alone has about 2,000 open construction jobs.
Why Human Connection Still Wins
- About 80–85% of communication is non-verbal, and much of that is lost in digital exchanges.
- Andreas introduces "humaneering": the spark of two people engaging face to face, which AI cannot replicate.
- Social media algorithms favor content with people in it over images of buildings and objects. Authentic, personal content performs better.
- Chris shares that he was told he's "everywhere," even though he rarely posts. He credits it to being genuinely present and caring.
- Reputation and referrals remain the strongest business drivers. The best relationships are fun, logical and mutually beneficial.
Conference Season Calendar
- ICSC Midwest: October 8, Fulton Market, Chicago, with more than 50 retailers
- CRE Tech: Javits Center, New York
- SMPS Fireside Chat with Chris Abel: October 28, Newington, CT

- ICSC Las Vegas: December 7

- Up next: the Minority Construction Council Matchmaker
30-Day Action Plan
- Show up consistently (Bekah Carlson): Be authentic and consistent on every platform so your presence tells one clear story.
- Clean up your digital habits (Chris Abel): Search your inbox for "unsubscribe" to clear out clutter, and set LinkedIn alerts for job changes so you stay in touch with your network.
- Get in the room (Chris Abel): Attend industry events in person to learn, connect and build sincere relationships.
- Get the attendee list (Andreas Senie): Don't stop at attending. Get the list and follow up with targeted marketing.
- Practice "No CCMB" (Andreas Senie): No Complaining, Criticizing or Blaming. When the market forces decisions, personal engagement makes the difference.
